THE MAKING OF “I WANT TO BE DISRUPTED”
The “I Want To Be Disrupted” EP was recorded live in-studio at Vinegar Hill Sound in Brooklyn, NY on May 18th-19th, 2026. The band put the date on the calendar and in the 3-4 months leading up to the session principal songwriter Michael Baynes wrote all new material with the live 3-piece format in mind. The band went in with 10-12 songs, cut 8 songs, kept 5, and ran out of time. The goal was simple; to disrupt the process. In the age of perfect music, multitracking and AI, let’s show up in a room and play it live. No overdubs, no vocal tuning, and no gridded and replaced drums. If you want it on the song it has to be played in the room, and if you want it to sound good enough to hold up to public consumption then you’ve got to embrace the fear of failure and show up for the moment. The result is a 5-song set that captures the energy, the space, the vibe, and the imperfect beauty of rock music. Two of the tracks that made the cut were songs that the band had never played together before they hit record.
